Jerome Herbert Skolnick March 21 1931 – February 22 2024 was a professor at Yale University University of California Berkeley New York University and a former president of the American Society of Criminology. He joined the University of California Berkeley in 1962. Skolnick had a Ph.D. in sociology from Yale University. David H. Bayley March 26 1933 – May 10 2020 was an American political scientist who taught at the University of Denver and the State University of New York at Albany. He was dean of SUNY Albany's School of Criminal Justice from 1995 to 2004 and was Distinguished Professor Emeritus. He authored 18 books and he was a "policing research pioneer." Bayley was described in 2015 as “the world’s preeminent scholar of international policing studies.†This work looks at recent innovations in the police departments and evaluates the effectiveness of police-community cooperation command decentralization and increased foot patrols.
