Small folio 33 x 23 cm. 6 accordion-folded leaves with a printed page as front cover and another as rear cover chromolithographed illustrations throughout; light spotting and soiling mostly on the external flaps.<br /> a fine example of one of Vasnetsov's most famous illustrated works published to commemorate the anniversary of Pushkin's birth. The Song of Wise Oleg is based on a chronicle by Nikolay Karamzin and remains one of the most well-known Russian poems of all time. <br /><br />Illustrated in the style of a medieval manuscript it is richly embellished with head and tail pieces and decorated initials.
