Interessante percorso storico dalla marina antica al transatlantitico. La prima parte dell'opera è dedicata agli Etruschi, l'Egitto, la Fenicia, Cartagine, la Grecia, Roma e l'Oceania. Nella seconda parte si considerano i Normanni (con l'invenzione della bussola), gli Arabi (con l'influenza delle Crociate e la lega anseatica). Un intero capitolo è dedicato a Venezia (con il suo Bucentauro e il significativo sposalizio della Città con il Mare, la particolarissima professione del Gondoliere, la nascita e lo sviluppo della famosa Regata, i pirati di Trieste, le olimpiadi di Venezia, flotte, commerci ed industrie) ed un altro a Cristoforo Colombo, per concludere con la conquista dell'oceano e dei Poli. Opera piacevole e non comune. In più che bello stato, parzialmente intonsa.
