Light soiling and edgewear about very good. Text on one side describes what visiting nurses do including offering in-home care to the sick advising expectant mothers "on matters of hygeine" teaching general health information and holding "Well Baby Conferences" where babies are weighted and mothers advised as to their proper care. On the other side is a list of rates but also a noted that "where patients cannot afford to pay stated prices less amounts are acceptable and free care when necessary." Visiting nurse associations were formed in many cities in the northeastern United States in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century. Most offered instruction on hygiene general health care maternity and childcare to poor women especially recent immigrants. unknown books
