Uniform toning else very good. $200.00 HOWES C-116. Dornbusch II 61. "Most of this cheaply printed paper-back book covering the years from December 1862 through December 1864 is a diary which the author carried during the war. He enlisted in northern Alabama in the latter days of 1861 and went down the Tennessee River to Fort Henry just in time to escape from that place. He also participated in Bragg's expedition into Kentucky in the late summer of 1862 passing through Cumberland Gap and southward though East Tennessee. In early 1863 he was fighting Banks at Port Hudson and participated later in the activities around Vicksburg after which he was in General Johnston's retreat on Atlanta and after its fall in General Hood's disastrous campaign against Nashville" Coulter 70. unknown
