The article states that this event had been miscontrued as follows ""he Newman contrued into a challenge.""Does the Bible sanction Polygamy"" but had so frightened the Latter-Day Saints that they dared not to meet him."" Harkening to the writers of the Constitution it goes on "".in proclaiming the old Jeffersonian doctrine that the Government is best which governs least I would not have even a minority on this floor. But when I say that in a system of self government such as ours.that seeks to be a governent of the people by the people and for the people we have no room for the guardian nor above all for the master.""
