Books in this four volume set are in excellent condition; as new in every respect. Bindings are solid and square, covers have sharp corners, exteriors show no blemishes, text/interior are clean and free of marking of any kind. Dust jackets are as new also, now wrapped in protective archival clear covers. Each volume about 400 pages with comics in full color throughout with introductions by the above authors, all stories written and pencilled by Jack Kirby, Vol. 1 inked by Vince Colletta, containing (18) complete comics, concept drawings of the New Gods and an afterword by Mark Evanier. Individual comics in Vol. 1 include The Newsboy Legion from Superman's Pal, Jimmy Olsen #135, Oct. 1970 , The Mountain of Judgement, same comic, #134, Dec. 1970, In Search of a Dream, from The Fovever People #1 feb. 1971, Orion Fights for Earth from the New Gods #1 Feb. 1971, etc. The other three volumes in the set have stories from the above series and from Mister Miracle, DC Graphic Novels, also Kirby's the Name, a self portrait and Infinity Man, This is Lightray, etc., also all in full color throughout, each containing about (15) individual comics with other original pencil pages from Jack Kirby, Mike Royer's orginal inks, who's who profiles, etc.

All from the library of Civil War historian Bud Robertson with his bookplate on the front pastedowns in 3 of the volumes his bookplate is on top of the Military Order of the Loyal Legion bookplate. As Robertson says in his Military Aspects --Soldier Life section of the Nevins bibliography while "the accounts vary wide in accuracy and quality" they contain "personal reminiscences in camp battle and prison" and can yield "useful nuggets" Nevins I 131.
