In 8° grande (22,5x14 cm); 494, (2) pp. e 5 grandi c. di tav. poste in fine al volume. Uno strappo alla prima e quarta tavola senza perdita di carta. Bella legatura coeva in mezza-pelle scura con titolo, fregi e anno dell'opera impressi in oro e a secco al dorso. Tagli spruzzati. Qualche strofinatura ai piatti e al dorso ma nel complesso esemplare in buone-ottime condizioni di conservazione. Prima rara edizione, in realtà esiste uno studio dello stesso Chiala stampato nel 1873 ma con la metà di pagine rispetto a questa edizione, di quest'opera di strategia militare legata al Risorgimento italiano. Valentino Chiala, fratello di Luigi Chiala, maggiore generale dell'esercito italiano che fu anche mentore del generale Dabormida, percorre in questo approfonditissimo studio la strategia dei vari eserciti coinvolti nella guerra austro-prussiana con numerosissimi dati statistici e storici. La guerra austro-prussiana (chiamata anche guerra delle sette settimane) fu combattuta nel 1866 dall'Impero d'Austria e i suoi alleati tedeschi, contro il Regno di Prussia, alcuni stati tedeschi minori e il Regno d'Italia. Le operazioni sul fronte meridionale tra Italia e Austria costituiscono la terza guerra d'indipendenza italiana. In Germania e Austria viene chiamata Deutscher Krieg ("guerra tedesca") o Bruderkrieg ("guerra dei fratelli"). Raro.

La prima lettera è inviata il 10-12-1916dove il Della Valle era all''Università Castrense di San Giorgio di Nogaro istituita il 13 febbraio 1916 Scuola Medica da campo fondata per fronteggiare le richieste di medici sul fronte bellico. Resterà nel Corpo di Medicina e Chirurgia III Reparto III^ Armata . Il 18-3-2017 scrive dall'Ospedale da Campo n. 238 per successivamente passare al n. 52. Il 25-9-1917 si trava nel 2. Art. da Montagna. La corrispondenza termina conl'invio all'Amico Parati Carlo del 17-11-1918. Si tratta di cartoline scritte in maniera fitta e chiara descrivendo la vita del periodo presso gli ospedali da campo. Interessante lotto

Paris, Raymond Schall, 1944-1946. 3 volumes in-4 (21,5 x 27cm), plein cartonnage bradel illustré de l'éditeur, titre en long sur le dos, chacun sous chemise cartonnée et étui beige pour les 3 volumes. Imprimés sur les presses de Draeger frères à Montrouge. Édition originale. Ouvrages illustrés d'une gravure d'Elie Bertillot ainsi que de photographies reproduites en héliogravure de Roger Schall, Maurice Jarnoux, Raymond Mejat, De Morgoli, et des reporters d'agence. A Paris sous la botte des nazis : Cet ouvrage (comprenant de nombreuses photographies de Raymond SCHALL) a été conçu sous l'occupation nazie. Pendant ces 4 années de honte, ses auteurs n'ont cessé de le préparer, et ce travail fut leur réconfort. Dans l'espoir de le publier au grand jour, ils voulaient en faire un témoignage de l'esprit de refus qui n'a cessé de souffler sur Paris et la France. Grâce a des subterfurges divers, les documents photographiques ont été pris à l'insu de l'ennemi, bien souvent au péril de la liberté sinon de la vie des opérateurs et son montage définitif a débuté en mai 44.
