One horizontal fold; very good condition.<br/><br/> English etcher mezzotint artist and engraver who holds the distinction of having his work displayed in every art museum in the world. In 1893 he concluded his studies as an M.D. he pursued a career in anthropology and eduction becoming President of the University of Colorado in 1914 a position he would hold for the next 5 years. In 1921 he became the fourth president of Cornell University. Under his leadership Cornell's enrollment and endowment increased rapidly. He held the office of President until 1937 leaving a brief 2 years before his death in 1939. Wiki. Mark Twain an early member called it the 'Ace of Clubs'. The Club took its name from the poem 'The Lotos-Eaters' by Alfred Lord Tennyson which was then very popular. Lotos was thought to convey an idea of rest and harmony. . The Lotos Club has always had a literary and artistic bent with the result that it has accumulated a noted collection of American paintings.
