Complete aria 4 oversize pages measuring 12.5 x 11.5 inches on music notation paper with words written in Italian/Sicilian dialect -- the original working draft for a scene from the Opera Isabeau Rome 1910. The duet here given terminates with Isabeau submitting to an act of obedience by bowing low before her father and then kissing his feet "Mio padre.e Re!.e Re saggio!" Isabeau premiered on June 2 1911 at the Teatro Coliseo Buenos Aires and was conducted personally by Mascagni. The Italian premier was held several months later at La Scala in Milan. A rare offering by what many scholars of operatic music believe to be "one of the most underrated Italian composers of the Golden Era." Small closed tear along the horizontal fold; otherwise very good condition.<br/> <br/> Italian composer best known for his 1890 masterpiece Cavalleria rusticana which caused one of the greatest sensations in opera history and single-handedly ushered in the Verisomo movement in Italian dramatic music.<br/> <br/> unknown
