189058342Waterloo Falls OR: n.p. June 8 1890. At the time this photo was shot there was a concerted push by business leaders and local citizenry pushing for an electric excursion train to the Waterloo Falls 1889-1890 along the South Santiam River as seen by articles published periodically in the Lebanon Express newspaper. The image is a striking shot with the band members and family members strewn about seated on the rocks next to the river during late Spring runoff and the Falls. Contemporary images of Waterloo Falls and the South Santiam River area are fairly uncommon and the caption refers to Andrew John S.B. Walter and George standing near “me.†n.p., unknown

1914004793Garden City: Doubleday Page & Company 1914. This is the last published work by Stanley Waterloo 1846-1913 a novel of "prehistoric fiction." A previous novel "The Story of Ab" was of the same genre fitting in well with the fascination with eugenics and having great success. Famously it was probably plagiarized by Jack London in his "Before Adam." Waterloo made that claim and London eventually admitted some influence. This is a Near Fine copy of the First Edition lacking the dustjacket. Green ribbed cloth binding with gilt titling on the spine; gilt decorations on the front cover a design by Will Bradley that suggest hieroglyphic cavemen. Clean text; xii 334 pages. Frontis and three other illustrations by Craig Johns. The gilt on the spine is perhaps a tiny bit dulled; else a Fine copy. An extremely attractive book. First Edition. Decorative Cloth. Near Fine/No Jacket. Illus. by Craig Johns. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Doubleday, Page & Company Hardcover
