Der Altphilologe J. F. S. Kaltwasser 1752-1813 ab 1778 Professor für Altgriechisch in Gotha übersetzte erstmals das gesamte erhaltene Werk Plutarchs in die deutsche Sprache. Die Erstausgabe der 'Moralia' erfolgte 1783ff. unter dem Titel 'Moralische Abhandlungen' in Frankfurt. Vorl. eine wenig verbreitete Ausgabe wohl ein Nachdruck der 1796 ff. in Wien und Prag bei Haas erschienenen desgleichen mit Kupfertafeln versehenen Edition dieses siebenbändigen Werkes. Erstdruck! 1913 - "Die ersten "Mammographien" wurden in Deutschland von dem Berliner Chirurgen Albert Salomon 1883-1976 von ca. 3000 Operationspräparaten nach erfolgter Mastektomie angefertigt. Salomon verglich diese Präparatemammographien mit dem entfernten Gewebe und beobachtete insbesondere Präsenz der Mikroverkalkungen im Tumorgewebe sowie die Tumorausbreitung in die axillären Lymphknoten. Salomon entdeckte in dieser Studie weiterhin dass es mehrere Arten von Brustkrebs gibt." "Bei der Präparatemammographie handelt es sich um eine Röntgenuntersuchung bei der ein operativ entferntes Stück Brustgewebe in der Regel bereits intraoperativ daraufhin untersucht wird ob der gesamte in der diagnostischen oder Screening Mammographie beschriebene Befund erfasst wurde. Die Entwicklung der Präparatemammographie beginnt im Jahr 1913 mit der Arbeit des Berliner Chirurgen Albert Salomon. Er erstellt die ersten Mammographien in Deutschland von ca. 3000 Operationspräparaten und untersuchte diese um die Ausbreitung des Tumors im Gewebe und in die Lymphknoten zu sehen. Kleine von ihm als Tumorzerfall beschriebene Pünktchen auf den Präparatemammographien entsprechen nach heutigem Kenntnisstand Mikrokalzifikationen. Das Ziel dieser ersten Mammographien war es eine optimale Operationstechnik zu entwickeln. In the study Salomon compared X-rays of the breasts to the actual removed tissue observing specifically microcalcifications. By doing so he was able to establish the difference as seen on an X-ray image between cancerous and non-cancerous tumors in the breast. Knight Windsor; Hanwell and Parker Oxford; and Barratt Cambridge 1805. 8vo pp. viii 368; original blue paper-covered boards cream paper shelfback blue printed label on spine; label defective with loss of three letters spine worn and cracked edges rubbed and worn upper joint cracked; the textblock is clean and the sewing structure is sound. Bookplate of Charles Gower Boyles and ownership signature of Edward Hawker both on the front pastedown. While there is no internal evidence this looks to be a lending library copy with a dozen or so names in manuscript some difficult to read on the upper board together with dates presumably dates of check-up and/or return. An Eton periodical printed on wove paper and a collational nightmare but apparently complete minus a final leaf of ads. The gatherings E through G are also in a different state than that of another copy on hand possibly due to a second run through the press to provide issues that hadgone out of print prior to the collection. Later issues show stab holes in the gutter suggesting they were remainders of the run in periodical form. Nos. XXVIII and XXIX have no title page as issued. Text comprises the original 34 numbers of The Miniature: Monday April 23 1804-Monday April 1 1805. "The second periodical work which issued from the college of Eton: the joint production of Dr. Rennell Mr. Knight Mr. Canning and the sons of the Marquis of Wellesley" Lowndes.
