Its bulk pays witness to the state's rapid growth during the nineteenth century and its engagement with the forces of modernity. Such topics as "Usury" and "Militia" in 1877 are redefined as "Interest" and "National Guard"; new additions include laws dealing with labor arbitration civil rights and occupational safety. Luce's Table of Statutes an invaluable tool originally published separately in 1900 is included in Volume I. Our reprint also has a detailed table of contents a feature that was not included in the original work. unknown books

Complete set to date 11 issues. Softbound. Issued twice a year January and July by Talbot Publishing an imprint of The Lawbook Exchange Ltd. ISSN 2381-0254. New. $550. JUS GENTIUM Journal of International Legal History is the first dedicated journal in the United States addressing the history of international law. Much of modern scholarship on the history of international law is preoccupied not with international law but with international legal doctrine; the doctrinal writings of remarkably few individuals dominate the discourse while the rest remain unseen or overlooked. This journal will encourage further exploration in the archives for new materials and confirmation of the accuracy of past uses but welcoming the continued reassessment of international legal history in all of its dimensions. 004286Brussels. Paper folder. Very Good Plus. N.d. circa 1910. 36 by 22 cm. Folio of eight pochoir illustrations all depicting elegantly appointed women decked in furs. The women are all on the move or active in some way -- these are illustrations meant to show how the garments work in their lifestyle. There is nothing static about the pictures. They bring to mind the breezy boulevard depictions of artists such as Sem with the difference that these portraits aren't caricatures. The fashions hark from a period in which beauty and elegance was the hallmark of high fashion while some of the shackles imposed by fashion were being loosened -- women could go out in the world on their own to a degree seldom the case a generation earlier. Jean Droit was a French and Belgian artist and writer who excelled at book illustration. He is better known for his depictions of wartime and warfare and he incidentally played an instrumental role in the scouting movement. This collection produced early in his prolific career is scarce -- we have been able to locate no other copies -- and each of the plates would be very appealing matted framed and hung on a wall.

unknown books
