Edizione originale di opera prima (3000 esemplari), rara a trovarsi; nato a Brest nel 1869 (morirà a Parigi nel 1923), Masson è figura esemplare di libertario: internazionalista, pacifista, femminista, ambientalista ante litteram, è imbevuto del pensiero anarchico di Kropotkine e Reclus, ammiratore di grandi del pensiero come Tolstoi, Ruskin, Thoureau, Whitman, Nietzsche; laureato in filosofia ed inglese crede che la costruzione di un mondo migliore passi dall'educazione; lui stesso sarà a lungo professore al liceo di Pontivy, nella Bretagna, in cui tornato nel 1904, lotta in favore dell'identità e lingua bretoni. É fra i fondatori del Partito Nazionalista Bretone e creatore della rivista "Brug".
