This is #2966 of 10000 of the limited first Edition copies. Pictorial wraps have wear to the spine edges. The glassine jacket has closed tears to the spine edges and a chip to the lower edge of the spine. Housed in the orginal cardboard box which has some soiling and toning. One of Roth's 101 best photography books. Paul Strand's photographs and commentary by the celebrated French author poet Claude Roy combine to capture the essence of rural life in post-war France.Strand's portraits of the young and old evoke a sense of history and character. Images of narrow alleys old tabaco shops sidewalk cafes and fields convey the textures and rhythms of the French countryside.
