"California voted full suffrage for women in 1911. In 1918 Reed who wrote and lectured about woman suffrage was one of several women in the state who ran for public office. She was an unsuccessful candidate for the state assembly from Ukiah. Reed was founder and publisher of the Northern Crown and one of the founders of the Pacific Coast Women's Press Association.
