Lincoln collector extraordinaire Lambert 1842-1912 used to send out lists such as this of Lincolniana he lacked; they worked for he ended up with one of the greatest Lincoln collections in existence though a fire in 1906 destroyed part of it. Monaghan records one such 1906 list noting that "a variant was issued earlier" -- apparently he knew of its existence but was unable to locate a copy to record in his bibliography. This is an example of that scarce pre-1906 want list and it consists of a simple single column list of 108 titles. Fascinating to Most uncommon. MONAGHAN 1504 variant. William H. Lambert paperback

On pages 256-258 Ives' grandfather appears -- Adlai E. Stevenson I U.S. vice president under Cleveland -- and alongside the text Ives has made a few pencil rules.
