Over 1600p total photo on every front cover and occasional photos inside chiefly stallions at stud. Covers soiled and rubbed especially one corner; magazine covers occasionally faded. Two pages in vol. 2 are accidentally overprinted but can still be read. In addition to the news and feature articles vol. 1 lists the 1931 stakes winners alphabetically and by Lowe family stakes-placed horses and stakes races. Vol. 2 lists yearlings sold at 1932 North American auctions. These magazines are a treasure trove of racing information: news of horses races farms and personalities; sales; ads; factual articles such as J.A. Estes on in-breeding in Kentucky Derby pedigrees; etc. The April 16 issue features a cover story on Phar Lap's death with a poem by Estes. Other prominent horses during the year included Burgoo King Dark Secret Equipoise Faireno Questionnaire and Top Flight. Both volumes are fully indexed.
