1965006499Trustees of the British Museum 1965 8vo 22.5 cm frontispiece XX 75 3 pages 139 plates. Bound in imitation leather with a gilt-lettered spine and gilt front cover. This catalog published in connection with an exhibition at the British Museum held from September 23 to October 31 1965 organized to commemorate the fourth centenary of the death of Jean Grolier. The exhibition showcased 138 volumes from British and Irish libraries constituting nearly a quarter of those known to have survived. Through an examination of the tools used Nixon identified the workshop that produced the majority of Grolier's bindings items 19-111 previously recognized as the Entrelac binder attributed to Claude de Picques the binder of Henri II. The catalog includes 11 plates featuring rubbings of tools and 128 photographs of bindings. Trustees of the British Museum hardcover
