It shows a closed area where two of the numerous assassins who killed two British officers at Kamakura were put to death. The execution was conducted by the Shogun at the demand of the British Consulate to make examples of the counter revolutionaries who would not yield to the Shogun who agreed to allow foreigners into Japan. The scene shows a fenced yard with a large group of foreigners most likely British and Americans and a few Japanese officials and other onlookers who wait for the executioner's sword to lop off the head of the two Japanese murders.
