Georges Wambach, (1901-1965) was born in Antwerp and moved to Brasil in 1935. He was self taught, but became well known after his death, when galleries began collecting and showing his work in Rio de Janeiro in the 1980's. His subjects are landscapes and older buildings in São Paulo, Minas Gerais, Pernambuco, Ceará, Bahia, Amazonas, Acre, Pará, etc. About 79 color plates + a number of black & white vintage photographs of the artist and family, colleagues, etc. Most of the works are in the Banco Itaú collection.
