This is a very good stapled softcover group of four separate publications by Eli Siegel, with just light cover wear. Very clean inside and out. The earliest title in this group is 'The American Family Versus American Art' July 1964. This is a transcription of a tape recording of a talk given on July 11, 1964. The next volume is 'The Aesthetic Method in Self-Conflict by Eli Siegel, Definition Press, 1965, (some soil to front cover) second edition after 1964 first edition. The next volume is 'The Child', 1970. The last volume is 'The Two Selves of Jessica Throckmorton. An Aesthetic Realism Lesson with Eli Siegel, 1971. Bound in beige paper-covered boards with cream cloth spines, corners worn, tipped on photographs on front covers fine. Included is a somewhat extended correspondence between Prod. De Meulenaere and Leahy's wife at her position at the JEA. It comprises of 2 letters and a postcard from Mrs. Leahy, 2 letters and a referee rapport from De Meulenaere, and a letter from Anthony Leahy. It shed some interesting light on the process of a refereed journal which the JEA has adopted, Mrs. Leahy submission of her husband's work as an anonymous manuscript for De Meulenaere as a referee, his comments on the work ("From the very beginning, I have suspected your husband to be the author of the article"), his reservations regarding the whole process of refereeing anonymous manuscripts, etc. A fascinating reading into the mind and working methods of these scholars.
