He was known for his performance as Inspector Hornleigh in a trilogy of films produced between 1938 and 1940 as well in Saloon Bar 1940 based on a stage play he had starred in and another one of his stage successes The Poltergeist made into the film Things Happen at Night 1947 a poltergeist comedy he co-starred in with Alfred Drayton and Robertson Hare. Her films helped to popularize opera by bringing it to a larger audience. She was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance in One Night of Love. In 1947 Moore died in a plane crash at the age of 48. She published an autobiography in 1944 titled You're Only Human Once. Born in Notting Hill London on 19 November 1909 Jones was the 5th child of William Thomas Jones and Harriet Eleanor J. Doughty 1878–1973 a Welsh-speaking dairy owner. In 1930 Jones was studying law at University College London when Kenneth Barnes the Principal of the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art noticed him in a student performance and offered him a career as an actor. His first professional engagement was in Carpet Slippers at the Embassy Theatre Swiss Cottage in 1930 while still at RADA. He won the annual RADA Gold Medal in 1932.
