Oblong 4to., First Edition thus, text in English, title and text in blue and black, with very numerous delightful cartoons throughout, neat signature on title; original illustrated wrappers, wire-stitched as issued, yapped edges, covers mildly age-soiled else a very good, clean copy of a rare booklet. One of the world's oldest trademarks, 'Bibendum' (the 'Michelin Man') was created in 1898 by cartoonist Marius Rossillon ['O'Galop'] at the instigation of Andre Michelin. The figure's first mass appearance was on the company's famous poster of 1898 since when it has continued to represent the Michelin company in over 150 companies. This very scarce booklet was produced to mark the figure's twenty-fifth anniversary. Since text and captions are entirely in English (but printed in France) we assume that this is the English version of a French promotional publication. A RARE SURVIVAL.
