This very scarce trade catalogue of 191 pages plus index represents the work of one of the most prestigious manufacturers of domestic metalware in Britain. The firm was established in 1781. This catalogue represents early twentieth century wares shown at Venetian Works Jennens Row Dale End Birmingham. The city of Birmingham well-known as one of the most important centers of metalwork throughout English history contributed a wealth of artisans to the Arts and Crafts period. The "Puritan Pewter" line with it's finely hammered finish was one of the firm's most successful offerings well-illustrated in this catalogue. There is some overall soiling and wear to the binding but it remains a bright sound copy of an elusive trade catalogue.</p> hardcover books

Initially the firm enjoyed some success primarily due to Durant's previous track record at General Motors but long-term sales proved to be less than necessary to maintain production economies and the firm went out of business in 1931. A handsome trade catalogue from this maker of tableware with most designs representing a form of Art Deco. The first plate is a selection of monograph styles followed by plates of silverware serving vessels and implements tea and coffee sets and decorative table pieces including centerpieces table lighting and vases. Of the loose plates four of them appear in a different style and bear the imprint "Imp. Faucheax et Fils Chelles". Some light wear and fading to gilt-printed pale blue wrappers. Internally near fine. 15202344New York: Dr. Jeanne Walter n.d. ca. 1915-20. <br /><br />24mo 5 3/4 x 3 7/16 inches; 143 x 88 mm 23 1 pages in printed stapled wrappers soft cover. <br /><br />An early 20th-century version of fat shaming: Dr. Jeanne Walter promises to reduce your "superfluous flesh" if you buy her medicated rubber garments. "Any physician will tell you that by inducing profuse perspiration you can reduce flesh relieve any kind of rheumatism skin diseases and many other ailments because it stimulates circulation and eliminates waste products through the pores" page 3. <br /><br />This pamphlet features a woman modeling such products as chin bust and abdominal reducers as well as jackets suits belts and pants. All in glorious black-and-white halftone illustrations. Most products are aimed at women although a page is devoted to a mustachioed guy wearing an abdominal belt that works by "stimulating circulation in the organs of digestion and by drawing out the uric acid from the system relieving any rheumatic condition that may exist" page 20. <br /><br />The pamphlet doesn't carry a date. But 1915 would have been the earliest date of issue based on an advertisement in The New York Times of October 3 1915 in which the company announced a new address of 353 Fifth Avenue the same address printed on the pamphlet. <br /><br />OCLC shows one institutional holding of a 1909 edition that carries a different title pagination and size at the American Textile History Museum Library. However there are no holdings of this edition. RARE. <br /><br />CONDITION: Some nicks and creasing to wrappers stains to lower wrapper rusting to staples tiny ink mark at bottom corner throughout. 8969One adult ticket to the the top of the "Top of the World-Trade Center Observatories". These are very rare as they were printed inside the world trade and they were used to go to the top without waiting in line you would give up the ticket once you went inside. Dated August 18 2001 only 23 days before the destruction of the towers. The ticket is blue printed on a image of the Twin Towers and The Statue of Liberty . In excellent condition.
