Le numéro 4 de l'année 1779 de ce grand périodique relate notamment un incendie intervenu dans une Eglise arménienne schismatique de Turquie et les premiers succès de l'introduction d'un costume national en Suède par Gustave III. Page 26, un court rapport spécule sur les gains que le commerce français pourrait retirer d'une victoire Américaine sur les Anglais, favorisant les îles de la Martinique et de la Guadeloupe.
"Le port de Calais (...) va être incessamment sans port et sans navigation; cette clef de la France va cesser d'être une ville maritime, cette rade si utile et qu'on pourrait à peu de frais rendre un port asssuré aux vaisseaux du Roi dans la Manche, va être anéantie sans retour si votre vigilance & votre sagesse ne se hâtent d'y pourvoir.
