Dustjacket. 412pp. A very handsome copy in clean. bright cloth in a gold dustjacket with some light wear to extremities rubbing at the spine ends and a single straight scratch running down the front panel. A very good copy. Downie originally born in Scotland was a prominent figure of the mid-19th century gold rushes in California and British Columbia pioneering several new routes to the goldfields on the Fraser River and claiming to be one of the first men to find gold in 1849 in Sierra County CA before the settlement there was re-christened Downieville. The true first ghost written with Downie's input by Waage was published in 1893. American West Publishing Company unknown
