4to., First Edition, with frontispiece and very numerous half-tone plates from photographs and old engravings, sketches and illustrations in the text, some minor browning on endpapers; decorative cloth gilt, gilt back, backstrip faded as often, edges with one or two light bruises else a very good, clean copy. Literature on ancient crosses is strangely limited to pre-mediaeval and village crosses; only here does one find extensive treatment of the (architecturally) far more interesting Eleanor Crosses, and a chapter on lych gates. SCARCE, ESPECIALLY IN THIS CONDITION.
