THE AMERICAN BOY founded in 1900 by William Sprague was a mainly fiction-oriented juvenile magazine roughly equivalent to Britain's The Boy's Own Paper. It merged with its rival publication The Youth's Companion in October 1929. It ceased publication in 1941. This is complete run for 1834 front and rear covers bound in bound in blue faux-leather from publisher with title of magazine pressed on front cover. Numerous writer and illustrators including author Carl Claudy who has three original stories in this volume. Carl Harry Claudy 1879 - 1957 was an American author magazine writer and journalist for the New York Herald. He wrote a number of books relating to photography and to aviation including "First Book of Photography: A Primer of Theory and Prize Winners' Book of Model Airplanes". Four novelization books were printed from some of the science fiction stories that Claudy wrote for The American Boy. His sci-fi stories that appear for the first time in this volume are "The Helmet of Pluto" "The X Mystery" and "A Million Years Hence.'
