Illustrations information and pricing for saddles chaps boots hats gloves lariats stirrups reins etc. Newton Porter was born in St. Louis Missouri and was left an orphan by the American Civil War. He learned to build saddles from a St. Louis Saddlery. William Newton Porter moved from Taylor Texas to Phoenix Arizona and established the N. Porter Saddle & Harness Company in 1895. The saddlery remained family owned and operated until the closing of the business in the 1960s. He founded the N. Porter Saddle and Harness Company in Taylor Texas in 1875. For the next 90-years the N. Porter Company established a reputation for building the finest saddles in the West. Newton established the N. Porter Saddle and Harness Company in Phoenix Arizona in 1895. The Porter saddles were widely known throughout the West. The famous Western novelist Zane Grey's personal favorite saddle was his Newton Porter. Light soiling and with light wear to the extremities and spine. Very good. Also includes an unused order form and envelop for the company as well as a 3-page mimeographed sheets made up of a cover letter followed by two pages of price listings for the Karl's of Seattle Company. The letter explains how to order saddles belts blankets etc. Prices for silver mounted saddles bridles plain and flower stamped saddles plate buckles etc. Karl’s of Seattle was owned by Karl L. Raab who employed one of the premier silversmiths on the west coast Don Ellis to manufacture mountings for their coveted line of parade saddles. All three sheet very good plus.
