19356343Chapel Hill: University of North Carolina Press 1935. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. 5 3/4 X 8 3/4 Inches. 211 PP. First printing of this overlooked classic of the agrarian movement in America and especially the South in the early 20th Century. The famous "Agrarian" poets including John Crow Ransome and Robert Penn Warren had written their literary support of the agrarian movement just five years prior to this publication with "I'll Take My Stand." Cauley capitalizing on the sentiment coming from these leading Southern poets and statesmen threw his hat in the ring to prove the case that agrarianism is a viable and important way of life with a bit of math behind the appeal. He worked with dancers including Ruth St. Denis Anna Pavlova and Sophie Pflanz among others. His artistic works are part of the collections of the Art Institute of Chicago the Cleveland Museum of Art the New York Public Library the Library of Congress and many others. Perhaps Troy Kinney's greatest legacy is in his contributions in the area of dance. He co-authored with his wife the books "Social Dancing of Today" and "The Dance: Its Place in Art and Life" for which he traveled throughout the world to study various dance styles. It remains to this day one of the most comprehensive works on the subject." Wikipedia. unknown
