4to., First Edition, with very numerous photographs, illustrations and maps (a number full-page) in the text, and a folding plan; original pictorial wrappers, a near fine copy. SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR ON TITLE. Detailed and valuable account of the minesweeping component of Operation NEPTUNE by the founder of the Algerines Association. The narrative structure includes much eye-witness and other vernacular material not available elsewhere. An excellent contribution to a still largely forgotten (and largely thankless) aspect of the RN's operations in WWII. VERY SCARCE.

194715219Paris, Vrin, 1947 ; in-8, broché ; 280 pp., 1 figure et 4 cartes départementales (Finistère, Côtes du Nord, Morbihan, Ille et Vilaine).
8vo., Third Impression, with 28 plates on 16 and coloured endpaper maps; red cloth, gilt back, a near fine copy in price-clipped dustwrapper. 'Third Impression before Publication'. Includes a good bibliography. The dustwrapper is unusual in that the publisher's blurb occupies the whole of the inner surface. Compiled from many participants' accounts, this is still the finest one-volume account of D-Day. It is the basis of Ken Annakin's well-known feature film (1962) starring John Wayne, Kenneth More and a host of other stars. VERY SCARCE IN ANYTHING LIKE THIS CONDITION. Enser, p.292.
