The author's name on the binding is given as "Orpheus C. Kerr" under which name most of his works were published and the facsimile signature of that name is on the front cover. An uncommon title by Newell who in 1870 published "The Cloven Foot" - an American version of Dickens' EDWIN DROOD. Wright II: 1789. "The Walking Doll" looks to be an outlandish satirical work which in the words of the author: "shall possess and rival all the worst beauties of Dickens Reade Wilkie Collins Thackeray and Miss Braddon." <br/><br/> hardcover
