William Jessup graduate of Yale was a"pioneer in the cause of education and temperance in northern Pennsylvania and the chief founder of the County agricultural society." Appleton He was a presiding judge of the 11th judicial district of Pennsylvania from 1838 until 1851and one of the three representitives sent to discuss with Lincoln the military quota he had requested of New York Pennsylvania and Ohio.
