Includes a statement on "Howl" answers the question imperative or noun and Arthur Miller on writers' status in the US. Also notices by Yates and Zahn on poetry workshops. Coastlines was a left-leaning publication that lasted between 1955 and 1964 replacing The California Quarterly when it folded in the mid-1950s. It published many radical poets including John Beecher and Thomas McGrath both of whom lost their teaching positions during HUAC hearings. It was the epicenter of the Los Angeles poetry movement which has long been overlooked due to the prominence of the Beats in NYC and San Francisco. California Quarterly unknown books
