Minor marks to covers. Overall a good copy of a very rare book. xii 135 pages. RICHARD WATSON was born in Middleton in Teesdale. He attended the Lead mining school from the age of six where is ability with words was spotted. When Richard was 10 his father fell ill and Richard had to leave school and start his career in the lead mining industry. Watson who was hailed as the Teesdale Bard was poor most of his life but he received useful sums now and then and was regularly treated at dinners and other functions where he sang a few songs and recited his verses. He died October 2nd 1891 at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary after suffering an accident at work on Holwick Hall. He is buried at St Mary The Virgin Churchyard Middleton-in-Teesdale County Durham England. HIS GRACE STONE: In Loving Memory of RICHARD WATSON THE BARD OF TEESDALE BORN 16TH MARCH 1833 DIED 2ND OCTOBER 1891.
