Book has minor rubbing to extremities. ; Aramaic Documents published here for the first time came from an unknown site in Egypt and consist of 13 or 14 more or less complete letters and the fragments of others from the Archives of Arsham, satrap of Egypt in the time of Darius II, and may be dated c. 410 B. C. They deal with the administrative problems confronting the satrap's subordinate officers, and with those arising from the relations of these officers with the native population, especially in the matter of their fiefs; one is concerned with the making of an equestrian statue for the writer, one is a letter of thanks for the safe transport of certain goods for personal use, and one is a safe-conduct for a Persian officer proceeding by way of Syria to Egypt.

Frontespizio in rosso e nero con vignetta incisa in rame da Piccini e due grandi tavv. inc. in rame incise da Andrea e Joseph Schmuzer, e più volte ripiegate; la prima, inserita tra pag. 42 e pag. 43, riproducente vari oggetti relativi alle cerimonie bacchiche; la seconda, in fine, riproducente l'iscrizione in latino arcaico trovata a Tiriolo [Catanzaro] nel 1640 riguardo l'atto del Senato a interdizione dei Bacchanali. Dedicatoria a stampa all'Imperatore Carlo VI. Copia bella, genuina, a larghi margini. Piccolo antico timbro di possesso al frontespizio e firma di possesso cancellata alla prima carta bianca. Qualche macchiolina alla pergamena. Prima edizione di questa trattazione relativa al Senatus consultum de Bacchabalibus del 186 d.C., in cui venivano proibiti dal Senato, dietro iniziativa di Marco Porzio Catone, i riti misterici dionisiaci dei Bacchanalia.
