Prof. Raven's original Doctoral Dissertation, presented in 1984 to the Leiden University. His doctoral advisors at the time were Prof. Dr. Jac Janssen and Dr. Joris Borghouts. The dissertation comprises of four articles which were originally published in "Oudheidkundige mededelingen uit het Rijksmuseum van Oudheden te Leiden". "Papyrus-Sheaths and Ptah-Sokar-Osiris Statues" in 1978-79; "The 30th Dynasty Nespamedu Family" in 1980; "Corn-Mummies" in 1982; "Wax in Egyptian Magic and Symbolism" in 1983. Raven (1953) was appointed in 1978 curator of Egyptology at the Rijksmuseum van Oudheden in Leiden. In 2012 he was appointed as extraordinary professor "Museology of Ancient Egypt" at Leiden University, a tribute to his highly reputed contribution to Egyptology in the world. [ADDED:] The original 12-point Thesis Statement, loosely inserted, and some academic correspondence regarding Raven's work.
