La cronaca si snoda su due piani narrativi: il primo utilizza un linguaggio letterario, fitto di riferimenti e citazioni cinematografiche e socio-antropologiche, ispirandosi, in punta di piedi, anche alle ultime teorie psicoanalitiche. L'altro, essenzialmente giornalistico, adotta stilemi linguistici diversi, ma tipici della cronaca nera e giudiziaria. Infine, rivelazioni con particolari inediti e sconcertanti, vengono forniti al lettore attraverso la pubblicazione di alcuni atti dell'inchiesta.
