EXTRAIT de la sentence rendue au Siege de la Justice de Nanteüil-la-Fosse, contre le nommé Charles Poutrain, accusé de plusieurs cas griefs; et ladite Sentence confirmée par Arrêt du Parlement de Paris.

Charles Poutrain avait été manouvrier et garçon charpentier. Condamné à être pendu, il confesse plusieurs incendies dans les villages de Cessiere, Coucy, Genville, Ville, Marque-Eglise, Erchû, La Chapelle près de Noyon. Les incendies avaient pour but de lui permettre de voler tandis que les habitants étaient occupés à éteindre le feu. Au cours de sa confession, il rappelle qu'il a toujours pris soin que les feux allumés ne fassent pas de victimes.

Dust jacket not price clipped or marked or torn or creased. 172pp. An account of the depraved regime of Idi Amin in Uganda in the late 1970s where murder, torture, imprisonment and mutilation were standard methods used on anyone he wanted to by Amin who had been humiliated by the Israeli's Entebbe Raid. The story is told by Wycliffe Kato who had been Assistant Director General of Civil Aviation at the time of his arrest and imprisonment. He tells of his time in custody and how he managed to escape to Nairobi. Very scarce.

Michael Thomas Bass, the Burton-on-Trent brewer and M.P., was concerned with all questions relating to the welfare of the working classes. He requested Prof. Levi to institute a wide and methodical inquiry into the earnings of the working classes throughout the United Kingdom. Levi himself took a lively interest in the working classes and investigated their economic position in several works.****In a calculation made in 1871 it was demonstrated that 'the yearly revenue derived from beer, wines and spirits amounted to about ?28,000,000 being more than a third of the whole revenue.
