Ilustrado com gravura da árvore genealógica da dinastia de Avis referindo os pretendentes ao trono em 1580.</p>_x000d_<p>Exemplar com notas bibliográficas nas folhas de guarda umas em letra coeva e outras a lápis com notas e assinaturas de posse na folha de anterrosto e na de rosto em letra do século XIX; etiqueta de biblioteca na folha de anterrosto com notas da mesma letra nas páginas 5 7. 9 11 e 13 e com notas genealógicas em letra coeva no verso da gravura.</p>_x000d_<p>Obra com uma pormenorizada descrição da Revolução de 1640 que restaurou a Monarquia portuguesa e expulsou os representantes do rei Filipe IV de Espanha que até essa data reinava nos dois países garantindo assim a independência de Portugal.</p>_x000d_<p>Segundo Gastão de Melo e Matos afirma na nova tradução e impressão de 1945 foi com a Restauração que Portugal se tornou conhecido do europeu médio da época pois Portugal não constituía um factor político na Europa e foi pelas acções dirigidas contra o rei de Espanha que esta obra alcançou fama.</p>_x000d_<p>René Aubert de Vertot Bennetot Normandia 1655 - Paris 1735 eclesiástico francês e historiador membro da Academia das Inscrições escreveu esta obra em 1690 tendo obtido um grande sucesso. É autor de várias outras obras históricas nomeadamente sobre a Ordem de Malta que teve vários Grão-Mestres portugueses.</p>_x000d_<p><br /><br /></p>_x000d_<p>EN Dim.:14x9 cm. iv xvi 191 pp.</p>_x000d_<p>Binding: contemporary full calf slightly worn with gilt tools on spine. Illustrated with the family tree of the Avis Dinasty showing the pretenders to the throne of Portugal in 1580.</p>_x000d_<p>Copy with bibliographic notes on the end papers some in contemporary handwriting and others written in pencil; with 19th century handwriting ownership titles on halftitle and title pages; library label on halftitle with notes in the same handwriting of pages 5 7. 9 11 and 13; also contemporary handwritten notes on the back of the engraving.</p>_x000d_<p>Work with a detailled description of the 1640 Revolution that restored the Portuguese monarchy and expelled the representatives of King Filipe IV of Spain at the time ruling both countries thus assuring Portugal's independence.</p>_x000d_<p>According to Gastão de Melo e Matos in the new translation and edition of 1945 it was due to the Restoration that Portugal became known amongst the average Europeans since Portugal wasn't a political player in Europe at that time.</p>_x000d_<p>René Aubert de Vertot Bennetot Normandy 1655 - Paris 1735 French cleric and historian member of the Academy of Inscriptions wrote this work in 1690 that became famous due to the description of the actions against the king of Spain.
