Paper spine label badly rubbed; a few old stains to covers; scattered foxing throughout text. Former owner's name at front but text is unmarked. Binding toght and solid. A hardcover book in good condition. English translation of the memoirs of Napoleon's brother Lucien. This is noted at the first volume but in fact the second volume was not finished in Lucien's lifetime it was eventually completed from his notes and drafts by an editor and published in the 1880s. Therefore this "Part the First" is actually the complete work as written and published by Lucien. The work covers the early years of the French Revolution and Republic. Harper and Brothers hardcover
