Sales" and specifically aimed at U.S. students: "con notas y acentos de prosodia al uso de los estudiantes en las academias colegios y universidades de los Estados Unidos de la America Setentrional."<br>Â Â Â Â Sales was an instructor of French and Spanish at Harvard and his edition has accents on the emphasized syllable of each word even if such accents are usually absent.<br>Â Â Â Â Provenance: 20th-century signature in ink on front free endpaper of Francis E. Condict Ballard; earlier pencilled inscription of H.W. Rivers on front fly-leaf. <br>Â Â Â Â <br>Â Â Â Â Shoemaker 28356. José Cadalso 1741-1792 Spanish poet and man of letters journalist studied in England and France at the Jesuit college Louis le Grand then at the seminary in Madrid. After traveling through Europe he pursued a military career. His prose helped awaken the spirit of the Enlightenment in Spain and defend national identity. Algunos agujeros de polilla siempre marginal en últimas hojas habilmante restaurados. José Cadalso Vazquez el Coronel Cadalso nació en Cádiz el 8 de octubre de 1741 muriendo en el sitio de Gibraltar el 27 de febrero de 1782. Hijo de una ilustre de familia se educó en el colegio de los Jesuitas de la ciudad de Cadiz ampliandolos en Paris en donde estudió Humanidades Ciencias exactas y Naturales así como las leguas latinas francesa inglesa alemana y portuguesa. A su vuelta a España en 1761 inicia su carrera militar. Hacia 1765 en Zaragoza empiezan sus tareas literarias. Los críticos de su época aseguran que fue un sagaz y paciente imitador así ocurre con las Cartas Marruecas que siempre se las ha tenido como imitación de las Lettres Pensanes de Montesquieu. Lo cierto es que tanto sus Eruditos a la Violeta como sus Cartas anteriormente citadas desprenden una fina sátira hacia las costumbres españolas de su época teniendo innumerables ediciones. Así las Cartas Marruecas escritas por el moro Gazel-Ben- Alya su amigop Ben - Beley contienen noticias tan dispares como el atraso de las ciencias la falta de la educación la relajación en las costumbres los pleytos entre padres é hijos el orgullo español jucio de la historiade Don Quijote sobre las corridas de toros sobre la pedantería el lujo etc etc. Palau 39096 - Aguilar Piñal II - 224 En la Imprenta de Piferrer unknown
