1929020029New York: Alfred A Knopf 1929. Nice copy in its first printing. Scarce. Only 1500 were printed. This is #601. I can find no listings for this book on any of the online book sites available to me. Black textured cloth with cold decorations to spine and front boards of both volumes. Gilt to top page edges. Unmarked tight and square. Appears unread. White endpapers. Abridgement carefully made to preserve all the charm of this great autobiography but with the exclusion of those passages which have hitherto kept it from the general publis. Publisher declared it one of the supreme adventure stories of al time. Slipcase is worn with crease on spine and may have once been green with black lettering but now appears tan to maybe 60% and green to 40%. Translated from the French by Arthur Machen. Edited and abridged by George Dunning Gribble. Vol 1 is 369 pages. Vol 2 is 362 pages. . First American Edition. Hardccover. Near Fine to Fine/No Jacket In slipcase. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Alfred A Knopf

194642175New York: Willey Book Company 1946. Hardcover. Edited by Joseph Monet. Illustrations by Vincente Minnelli. Small 4to. Burgundy cloth with gilt lettering pictorial dust jacket. 290pp. Frontispiece full-page line drawings. Very good/good plus. Endpapers a bit age toned; jacket edgeworn and a bit rubbed with spine sunned. Scarce first trade edition of the autobiography of the famed 18th century Italian adventurer and womanizer -- and with a choice autograph addition: Tipped to the front flyleaf is a heavy stock white 5½" X 4" card boldly signed "From / Vincente / Minnelli" in black fineline. Undated but circa 1983. American stage and film director Minnelli 1903-86 began as a costume and set designer as his semi-erotic drawings for this volume clearly show. A lovely and unusual copy.
