Jahrhunderts. Mit Produktionen wie La Dolce Vita Amarcord oder Die Stadt der Frauen schrieb er Filmgeschichte. Bei der Konzeption seiner Filme war die Zeichnung ein unverzichtbares Arbeitsmittel: »Ebenso wie das Drehbuch die verbale Phase bei der Herstellung eines Films darstellt kommt es oft vor dass ich während der Vorbe- reitungszeit Entwürfe und Figuren zeichne weil ich eine Szenerie eine Rolle das Kostüm einer bestimmten Figur oder eine Stimmung festhalten und visuell klarstellen möchte« Federico Fellini 1973. Manche Zeichnungen sind minutiös ausgearbeitet andere rasch aufs Papier geworfen und mit schriftlichen Erläuterungen versehen. Seine künstlerische Handschrift entwickelte Fellini bereits als junger Mann der Urlauber am Strand von Rimini ebenso karikierte wie amerikanische Soldaten in Rom. Der Katalog präsentiert rund 200 Zeichnungen Fellinis im Zusammenspiel mit Filmstills Aufnahmen vom Set und Auszügen aus seinen Drehbüchern. The entirety of the production captures the spirit of the Belle Epoque or Fin de Siecle at least as we like to remember it. Complementing the work itself is the spine decoration of masked figures linked by a floreate vine. Some foxing on the chine extra suite leaves. The half morocco leather is sunned.
