New English Paperback. 4to. (29 x 24 cm). In English and Turkish. 105 p. Color ills. The glass artists hailing from Northern European countries, present us here in Istanbul with contemporary interpretations of glass, a material inherited from past cultures. The artists, taking their influences from the glamorous nature and traditions of the North, reinterpret the forms that pass on from generation to generation, through pushing the limits of material and technology in an unorthodox way. They transform glass into a field of contemporary art, beyond the function, form, and technical skills inherited from previous pioneers of glass-making, proved and approved since the 18th century. They open up new discussion platforms for today's questions while remaining true to the Nordic simplicity and grace. The exhibition, curated by Mats Janson, includes works from Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, and Iceland by 25 artists who are in a continuous search, produce freely and on a wide scale, in a process that is variable, innovative, and global.

The project aimed to establish a cultural bridge through art and nature - to promote observation and field-based wildlife art as a tool for raising awareness of the Turkish Sweet Gum Forests. The tangible project outcomes, aside from the mountain of artwork produced by tutors and students alike, are a project book and an exhibition, both of which are at the time of writing, being developed. The exhibition will travel to three different sites in Turkey as well as the 'Natural Eye' exhibition at the Mall Galleries in London.

New English Paperback. Demy 8vo. (22 x 15 cm). In English and Turkish. 96 p., 40 unnumbered color ills. Asli Çavusoglu. Mercury in retrograde.= Merkür geriliyor. Edited by Iz Öztat, Süreyyya Evren. The Contemporary Art Series of artists books, initiated by Art-ist publications, presents unique monographs of work by emerging artists who do not have a publication on their work yet. The series aims at documenting practices as they manifest and creating a space for evaluating each artist's practice through most of their works. The books published to date are Ahmet Ögüt: Informal Incidents (2008), followed by Bashir Borlakov: Fictional Reality (2009), Can Altay: Pigeons are People (2010) and A. Sener Özmen Book (2011). Mercury in Retrograde is the fifth book in the series, which focuses on Asli Çavusoglu's artistic production since 2004. In her works, Ash questions the audience's relationship with reality through her daring interventions in space and time. No matter what the topic is, her works reflect the process and the coincidences invoked by the artist that result in layered interpretations. In the universe that is presented in this book, linear relationships and narratives don't work. We can only perceive the works as a constellation of time/space compressions, which impact each other in multiple dimensions. You can imagine that an artist dealing with the fictional nature of historiography and placing herself at the center of experiences shaping her work would not let somebody else edit the narrative about her practice. The interpretations you will come across are some possibilities articulated from now and the same works might appear with completely different meanings in the future. In this book, you might be looking for a narrative of Ali Cavusoglu and her artistic practice but you might find something else.
New English Paperback. Pbo. 4to. In English and Turkish. 216 p., color ills. "The publication that accompanies Asli Cavusoglu's exhibition "The Stones Talk" features drawings of the 71 study pieces reconstructed by the artist, 3D sketch renderings of the objects in the exhibition and photos of selected objects. The books includes new essays commissioned exclusively for this publication. Özge Ersoy's curatorial essay is followed by sociologis Asli Gür's text titled "The Fragment That Resists the Story" and based on her research at the Museum of Anatolian Civilisations in Ankara. Revolving around symptoms and dreams as "foreign languages that speak with us", the essay by psychologist and editor Gülin Ekinci proposes a reading of "The Stones Talk" through Freud's work, while curator and writer Adam Kleinman focuses on the role of imagination in our relationship with objects.".
