L'agricoltore Amilcare Ranucci torna al paese seguito dalla mucca che ha acquistato al mercato di Acqui. Strada facendo si ferma un attimo; lega la bestia a un palo, appende a questo il cappotto in una tasca del quale, avvolto in un giornale, ha messo un fascio di banconote. Poi si allontana. La mucca, frugando col muso tra le pieghe del soprabito, trova il plico e comincia a mangiarlo. Tornato sul posto il padrone si lancia sulla bestia per strapparle il malloppo. Troppo tardi! Le banconote sono ridotte in frammenti di carta inservibile." "Sogno di Capodanno. Al 1957 che nasce gli uomini chiedono pace.
