The Montgomery Council on Human Relations a local branch of the Alabama Council on Human Relations was an integrated community-organized group which was dedicated to the advancement of racial justice through legal means formed in opposition to such groups as the anti-Civil Rights White Citizen's Council. The present mimeographed newsletter by the MCHR reprints news stories related to the Bessemer grand jury indictment of Robert Hughes in a case related to what would become New York Times v Sullivan. OCLC records no examples of newsletters by the MCHR.<br /> <br /> Alfonso and Lucy Campbell attended Dexter Avenue Baptist Church and became friendly with the King family. Both became deeply involved with the Montgomery Improvement Association and during the bus boycott Alfonso served as co-chair the Montgomery Improvement Association's Transportation Committee and chair of the Purchasing Committee. In 1964 the Campbells moved from Montgomery to Virginia when Alfonso became Assistant Dean of Men and Lucy a staff librarian at Hampton Institute. Montgomery Council on Human Relations unknown

Good.</p><p>Number 217 of a limited edition of 900 numbered copies.</p><p>The Dutch Treat Club founded in 1905 was an association of individuals active in literature art music and the theatre. Originally membership was limited to men and the club's yearbooks included "naughty" stories about women and cartoons and drawings of naked or partially nude females. The second illustration in this yearbook is captioned; "To Dumb Wives: Note: Beyond this page no perfect lady will go." After a controversial 1991 vote to admit women as members the yearbook somewhat cleaned up its act.</p><p>Among the contents of the 1928 Year Book is a series of spoof illustrated credits lyrics and choruses for musical shows.</p> Privately Printed (by Rogers & Company, Inc.), 1928. hardcover

1914606026Chicago: Historical Feature Film Company 1914. Unbound. Near Fine. Film program. Octavo folded once to make 4pp. Illustrated from two black and white photographs. Two old horizontal folds a couple of thin stains on the front panel a bit of rubbing about near fine. A program for the film Money Talks in Darktown starring Florence McLain Frank Montgomery Bert Murphy and Jimmie Marshall. The Historical Feature Film Company was a White-owned production studio in Chicago producing films with largely Black casts but which still incorporated all of the racial stereotypes of the period. The company is largely credited with being established in 1915 though this program is for a film releasing on November 30 1914. Following poor public reception to their early films the company changed their name to the Ebony Film Corporation in 1917 in an attempt to appeal to the Black audience and hired Luther J. Pollard a young Black entrepreneur who was given the title of president and general manager. The company officially shut down just a couple of years later. Very scarce. Printed on textured paper and with the lips logo in the bottom right corner reproductions have been made but they are printed on smooth paper and often without the logo. Folded as issued else fine. The U.S. promotional poster for the release of the Rolling Stone's album Sticky Fingers. A seminal album sorry that included the songs "Brown Sugar" "Wild Horses" and "Can't You Hear Me Knocking" it was also the first album released on the band's own label after spending most of the 1960s with Decca and London Records and the first to use the famous "Tongue and Lips" logo designed by John Pasche. The photograph by David Montgomery features the Stones playfully posing with copies of the album. The album's famous zippered crotch cover a photo of Joe Dallesandro although other individuals have been suggested as well was conceived by Andy Warhol photographed by Billy Name and designed by Craig Braun. Issued to record shops for promotional display most examples of this poster were subject to wear and tear. A hard-to-find poster and in as new condition. unknown

This particular catalog contains the typical smattering of corduroy you would expect from a 1980's department store but is nearly legendary for the checklist of toys including: Strawberry Shortcake the World of Barbie Lego Chips Starforce Matchbox Star Wars Empire Strikes Back Color Mego Batman Spiderman Superman Robin Batmobile & Spidercar and the Lone Ranger. <br /> <br /> Spine remains uncreased. 1960346279No place: no publisher 1960. Unbound. Near Fine. A collection of 25 decorative title cards for a range of motion pictures released between 1952 -1960. Each measures approximately 14" x 11". There is some wear to the extremities a few scattered creases and a bit of rubbing but overall near fine with surprisingly bright colors. Each card has been screenprinted on the verso of a large movie poster that was cut into sections to match the dimensions of a typical lobby card. Movie theaters would occasionally commission local sign makers to produce lobby cards for display. The production symbols on many of the cards indicate they were created in the same years as the films they represent. Among the most notable titles in the collection are: From Here to Eternity Shane Duel in the Sun Stalag 17 and Gidget. An attractive set of mid-century film memorabilia. First edition of this scarce and fascinating salesman’s sample catalogue for men and women’s suits leisure wear and formal tuxedos offered by Montogmery Ward at the beginning of the 1970s. This line of clothing featured English fabrics from Herbert Gladson Inc. tailored portions by Imperial in New York some Jacquard fabrics from David H. Small Co. in New York assembled for tailored clothing bearing Carol Brent Lady Brummell and the Designer’s Showcase labels. The men’s suits feature the slim fit with early bell bottoms wide lapels loud and vivid colour linings reverse welt hip pockets cardigans and even matching belts. Women’s clothing featured flared skirts double-breasted suit coats belted coats five-button pantsuits and fly front topcoats. No copies located in Worldcat. Atwater 1904-1976 born in Baker City OR and Harvard grad worked as a Montana racher and trapper forest ranger and was WWII 10th Mountain Division veteran. FIRST EDITION LIMITED ISSUE OF THIS BEAUTIFULLY ILLUSTRATED BOOK. The journey led from Dieppe to the South avoiding Paris then via San Remo along the Italian Riviera into Tuscany with an excursion to Verona and Venice.
