Backstrip tape-repaired, lacks 1 page, otherwise Good Condition; 8vo; 377 pages; Thompson and the others were arrested in 1841 and imprisoned at Palmyra, MO (frontis illus) for helping slaves escape. He was later pardoned. Thompson had become enamored with the anti-slavery ideas of Theodore Weld while a student at Oberlin College in 1835. Not in Howes or Sabin.
