With "Rhodope" at head of cast list and prelude.<br/><br/>The work consists of a prelude; Act 1 in 10 scenes; Act II in 8 scenes; a ballet; and Act III in 9 scenes.<br/><br/>Characters in the opera include Amasis King of Egypt Béréel his servant Hemblond a steward at the palace Ali guardian of the Temple of Venus Rhodope a courtesan Nofré her servant the Pharoah and various additional servants courtesans etc.<br/><br/>Characters in the ballet include Reine Beauté Le Prince charmant Le Reine des Joies La Reine des Douleurs Les Caprices Les Illusions Les Rêves les Joies Les Désenchantements and Les Wresses. <br/><br/>The action takes place in Memphis Egypt ancient capital of Aneb-Hetch the original name of Lower Egypt in 500 B.C.<br/><br/>With notation in black; part identifications performance notes and occasional notation in red; and text in green ink. With descriptions of each act and the ballet preceding music.<br/><br/>Binding worn rubbed and bumped; cloth to lower stained and abraided at upper portion. Some leaves very slightly trimmed at upper and outer edges often affecting pagination but just occasionally very slightly touching text; name preceding Durey's name on title erased. An unpublished and unrecorded opera.<br/><br/>Lovreglio was a composer conductor and musicologist. Born in Naples grandson of the flautist and composer Donato Lovreglio 1841-1907 he died in Nice. Lovreglio played the violin at La Scala under Toscanini from 1917-1919 at which time he emigrated to France teaching at the Collège Parc Impérial in Nice from 1940-1945; among his students was the Armenian composer Levon Arami Astvatsatrian born 1922. He wrote two operas three ballets stage music two masses and symphonic and chamber music. <br/><br/>The present work is not included in Lovreglio's works list in Wikipedia. <br/><br/>There is a center named for him in Celano the Centro Europeo di Studi Musicali "Eleuterio Lovreglio. unknown books

Two pages approximately 125 words in part: "To our surprise and disappointment the only letter we can trace from the Empress Alexandra to my mother is one written in 1884 as a schoolgirl and one or two written to me when I was a young child. These contain nothing of any interest . Some of our papers are still in the Hessian Grand Ducal Archives"; accompanied by the original envelope stamp scavenged. Mountbatten served as the Supreme Allied Commander in Southeast Asia during the last years of World War II and oversaw the independence and partitioning of India and Pakistan. Very good. Accompanied by impeccable provenance -- an attached note three weeks after his death that reads: "My brother died at Fort Huachoca March 13 1900 and never saw your letter. I enclose an autograph signature of his -- Co. W.W. -- 4/4/1900." Bruce is rare in any format; very good condition.<br/><br/> United States Army officer who died of wounds received at Calicoon Philippine Islands while leading a charge on February 10 1899 of which he died March 13 1900. Italian soprano Gina Cigna made her debut at La Scala in 1926. In 1929 she "returned there and sang every season until 1943 establishing herself as a leading Italian dramatic soprano. She was particularly admired as Norma La Gioconda Turandot and in Verdi; she also took part in important revivals of Alceste 1935 and L'incoronazione di Poppea 1937 at Florence and was the KostelniÄka in the first performance in Italy of Jenůfa 1941 Venice. Cigna made her Covent Garden début as Marguerite in La damnation de Faust in 1933 and returned there in 1936 1937 and 1939. She sang at the Metropolitan 1937-8 and also in San Francisco and Chicago. In 1947 following a car accident she retired devoting much of the rest of her life to teaching." She was a highly dramatic and musical singer with a dark voice and an attractive rapid vibrato. The majority approx. 280 are printed in bronze or sepia ink plus approx. 73 hand or stencil colored and 7 in green ink. All are printed on individual envelope-sized sheets most 3 x 5 1/2 in. but none are full envelopes. The majority are blank on verso and show no signs of mounting some few are backed with blue yellow or pink paper sheets trimmed to fit. All but a dozen or so bear the imprint of "Chas. Magnus 12 Frankfort St. NY." At least one has a Sachse imprint the other handful without imprint are all in the style of Magnus. All are in very good condition. <br/>The several sets include: 1 36 images in bronze ink not consecutively numbered of military hospitals encampments and batteries; 2 12 numbered images in bronze ink of various Civil War battles; 3 12 numbered images in bronze ink of the "Movement of the Army from Washington to Richmond" caption title; 4 11 of 12 numbered images in bronze ink lacking #9 of the "Battle of Gettysburg Pa.
